Do you know the benefits of Ginger Cinnamon Tea? It is a perfect home remedy for coughs and allergies. I’ve been using it religiously for over two years to deal with the recurring chest infections and allergies. Here’s how to make and use this herbal tea!

Ginger Cinnamon Tea Home Remedy for cough

Don’t we all hate it when we fall sick with flu and allergies? In the current COVID Pandemic, I guess we are all bit scared of coughs now!

When you have little kids, it can be quite disturbing. With seasonal changes, it is necessary that we take precautions to prevent allergies but no matter how careful you are, if your children are at school or if you go out then, some pesky infection will come home. This concoction has been like magic for us!

If you can use natural, why chemicals… right?

I am totally against the use of antibiotics and medicines. If we can cure it naturally why go for chemicals… right?! I am sure you will agree with me on this.

My 4 year old was sick again. It was just a normal cough and cold with no fever. I didn’t agree with my doctor that my child should be taking antihistamines and cough medication for over two weeks! So, I took my mum’s advice and made this.

It worked.

My sister in law tried it on her three children. It worked again.

I passed it on to my friends. Now, we all agree that age old recipes handed down from generation to generations work better than over the counter medications!

Benefits of Ginger, Cinnamon and Honey

This home remedy for cough and colds is like tea but without the kick of caffeine. Ginger cinnamon tea is good for scratchy throats, colds, coughs or allergies like asthma and bronchitis. This is my go-to recipe now.

The benefits of honey & ginger are well known and quite effective. Honey acts like an antibiotic against the bacteria in the throat and chest while ginger soothes with its warmth. I hope you will try this recipe for yourself and tell us whether it worked for you too.

Ginger has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It helps support the immune system and is know to help prevent nausea and soothe an upset stomach. Ginger is also a natural blood thinner and contains a phenolic anti-inflammatory compound called gingerol that may be responsible for relaxing blood vessels.

Cinnamon according to my Indian traditions creates warmth in the chest and dissolves the phlegm. So this is perfect to soothe scratchy throats and phlegm build up.

I am sharing two ways to make Herbal Ginger tea. One is with Ginger and Cinnamon and the other without Cinnamon. Please see both the recipes below.

Please Note: This recipe is not for babies and very young children. Do not use it if you or your child is allergic to any of the ingredients.

Bottle up the concoction and store in the refrigerator and use whenever required. You can keep it an airtight bottle in the fridge for up to a month.

Dosage:

For kids:
Heat 2-3 tablespoon of this concoction and add it to a cup with 1 teaspoon of honey. Mix well and drink it up.

For adults:
Use 1/4 cup of the concoction warmed and mixed with 1 teaspoon of honey.

Twice daily if its severe or else just once before sleeping.

Don’t expect immediate results. Continue for atleast 3 days to see a difference. This tea worked wonders for me. Please keep in mind your and your child’s allergies regarding the ingredients used in this recipe.

Yes, you can use it even without the honey.
