My life with 3 Children – 2 Kids under 2 years of age
In this post: Would you like to know what my life with two kids under 18months was like? This post is from 2014. This post was originally called ‘In the Name of Chaos’. I am sharing this again for all you moms, who are curious to know what juggling two under two means.
Well… To begin with there is 216gms of butter in a bowl that has been going in and out of my fridge every day for the past ten days.
It is supposed to be for mummy and son to have a special baking time when the girls nap. Someone’s been stealing some too.
There is this incomplete flower…
There are 1036 photos waiting to be downloaded from my camera. That means quite a few blogging ideas waiting to be typed up.
Then there is that heap of fresh laundry on my couch. It is three loads, over three days old, waiting to be folded.
There are toys strewn all around the house, beds unmade and dishes waiting to be rinsed. I’ve already scrubbed them, mind you… Only rinsing is needed.
There is a cap being made for a very tiny baby.
And this hanging in one of the wardrobes.
Amidst all this, I am pacing the floor rocking a baby in my arm… and a little toddler with her baby doll in her arm is pacing alongside me, humming the exact same tune as her mum.
Soon, the baby will sleep and mummy and daughter will make the beds. The little toddler, will pull out her box of toys. Mummy will sit with her tablet on one of the beds. After a while, toddler will lie down beside her teething her keys. A few minutes more and toddler is asleep (the pillow cases still needing to be changed!).
Mummy goes into the kitchen, places her tablet on a counter, gets herself some tea and ‘Yay! It’s time to blog‘, she thinks.
Wrong. The baby just got up.
Two hours of pacing the floor and trying to burp the baby later, toddler gets up. Son gets home. Lunch, showers, homework, supper, bedtime routine. Finally, Mummy gets her me-time.
Wait. The bottles.
‘Now I can sit down.’
Wait. Lunch box.
Baby is up.
Two hours of pacing later…
Zzzzzzzzzz.
It’s a beautiful chaos.
I love this post! I don't have children yet but this is exactly how I imagine it will be. Beautiful chaos.
Thank you Ashley. I am sure you'll love every moment of it and make your children enjoy it too. 🙂
Stopping by from the SITS GIRLS comment love! My husband and I don't have children yet, but I can't wait for my days to be filled by this beautiful chaos as Ashley put it!
You've got your hands full! Enjoy it now because you WILL miss these days and remember them fondly 🙂
Aw, I only have one little one myself so far and already I have days like that! I started knitting her a sweater last year that I still have yet to finish (all I need to do is under the armpits….don't exactly know what's holding me back but I need to finish it before she's too big for it!)
It sounds like a wonderful but exhausting life! : ) I love little ones. I miss having someone that age in the house. I keep trying to convince my husband we need another. I hope you can get everything done soon!
🙂
Oh my goodness! I almost could have written this post myself. But I have just one little one… and a teenager, lol! I can't imagine how it would be if I threw a baby in the mix too. Hang in there, mama. What needs to get done will get done. 🙂
That sounds just like my days over here and I just have one that is that little. But he's teething and not napping well now.
At least you got projects started. That's more than I can say!
My kids were born 13 months apart and it was a very busy time when they were little. But believe it or not that time goes by fast and you'll look back some day with fond memories. Enjoy them while they're little!
Yes! This is life…the best life! Child make the chaos beautiful!! #SITSBlogging
Yep. I totally get everything you're saying about being a mommy of babies and toddlers. Actually, I no longer have babies and my life is still just like this. Alas, the life of a mommy is a wonderful chaos.
I remember those days. Enjoy the baby moments. They go so fast.
This was so funny! My baby will be 11 next month. Time flies! I give you credit for blogging with young kids – I was happy when I got a shower in! Stopping by from SITS!
i have 3 close together as well. my littlest is 4 1/2 so it's a little less mayhem like but i know that beautiful mess oh so very well!! including the butter in and out of the fridge day after day
Boy do I remember those times. My "babies" are 7 and 8 now, and things are still hectic… a lot of arguing going on between them ☹… but I do miss that time when they were little biscuits. Hectic and not really a moment's rest, it does go by quickly in the scheme of things!!! Enjoy! #sitsblogging
I commented earlier, but it never showed up so if this posts twice, you can just delete one of them.
Anyways, life is the same over here too and I only have one that is that little. At least you started on some projects. I haven't even done that!
Hi Aysh!
Such a cute post! Oh, the days. I had a 11 yr old and then a 2 yr old and newborn, so I know how it can be. It's so nice that you can be home with them. I kinda was; I had a daycare in my home so they never really got my full attention. Sigh. There are plenty of days to finish projects; believe me, this time will go fast. I'm onto grandchildren and I actually do get some things done because they go home! (However their mom doesn't get much accomplished either.) Such is parenthood!
This is a great glimpse – I've got one 3 yo and one on the way, but I can see it'll be like looking into the future! 😉 #SITSblogging
Awe!It sounds like you have a full house going on. But I'm sure at the end of the day (or most of them) you wouldn't have it any other way.
I don't have children but I can only imagine! Good luck continuing to balance! 🙂
Too cute – life with kids is never boring! Haha
Props on blogging with two toddlers! That is awesome!! I feel like I barely have time to blog. Children chaos is always good chaos!
Oh boy! One child under 18 months is rough. You're doing great, Mama!
Sounds intense! I don't have kids yet, but I hope that when I do, I'll be able to hold it together like you do.
Seems like I remember my mom having those kind of days except with 5 kids from 5yrs. down to 0. I am the oldest. 🙂
Hope you get lots of rest!!! 🙂
Saying hello from @sitsblogging. I can imagine what must you must be going through with such young children. I am sure you have your hands full. I have two girls and thankfully they are 5 years apart.
Such sweet, sweet moments! Though I have to admit I am scared of going from one child to two one day!
I am exhausted just reading this! But, I do remember those days.
Beautiful chaos is so much my life that I named my blog after it with a play on my last name- ButeauFull Chaos (it's not misspelled Buteau is my name and my life is FULL of Chaos!!). #SITSBlogging
I hope you find time soon hopefully if the kids allow you lol to have some time to blog, as I'd love to see your pics you need to download. I hope you and your son get to bake soon! Becki – Coping with the Big C – The Sits Comment Love Challenge
I love the image of your daughter walking beside you and humming just what you were humming. What a beautiful word picture!
This brought back flashbacks of my kids who were both under 2 just 2 years ago. Alhamdulillah for passing that time and making it thus far!
Time passes so fast. It’s seems just yesterday.
Hi I have the same situation with twins (1) and two boys (4 and 6) waiting for undivided attention. I struggle with forgiving myself for not doing ‘productive stuff.
They are little for just so few years. I am glad I slowed down then to embrace the moment because … Definitely I see the fruits of it now. ❤️
