June Monthly Goals – Ahlan Ramadan
Ramadan Kareem and wishing you all a joyous year ahead. May the Almighty accept from you and from me our good deeds…
It is time to write goals for the month and plan ahead. My Ramadan goal is to feel the peace of the blessed month. I always feel Ramadan to be a dear friend returning. The peace and joy of connecting with your Lord. It is like hitting the pause button on life so that you can concentrate on enjoying your time. Prayer is like that you know… the past few days since Ramadan began, life has become so peaceful here. I don’t know whether it is because I don’t have to have lunch ready by noon, that there is no hurry in my life. The kids have been getting up by themselves and playing quietly in their room. They either go pour themselves cereal or drink milk while sorting blocks and puzzles. They patiently wait for me to serve breakfast and then too, they quickly finish it to go back to their room to play or read. I am amazed by their behaviour! Cannot decide really if it is the routine chart or if they really like Ramadan too.

Our vacations began in mid May and since then we have had a routine chart for the kids. We sat down and talked about what all we will do through the day; the things they must do and the limits that are in place which they can ‘unlock’ by doing ‘jobs’. It seems like a logical plan. To make it more effective, I’ve made it a tick chart so that they can tick out the things they are doing. I’ll be uploading it soon for you all to download.
Z and I went on a much needed dinner date in May. That was the highlight of the month actually- leaving the kids to go out by ourselves and give more importance to our relationship. All couples should do that. YOu don’t have to wait till things go out of hand or until you badly need it. Just go out without a reason. I hadn’t been out with my hubs since we had our youngest. She is two years old!
On the blog, I’d like to introduce you to Nabila Sultana. She will be a regular author here writing about beauty, health and DIY every Sunday. Nabila is a business graduate and mom to a 3year old son. You may have already read her articles the past few weeks but before that she had been helping me behind the scenes.
Here are my monthly goals for June:
- Have a spiritual and peaceful Ramadan by eliminating distractions. To be very precise, I am going to cheat in my kitchen and I am going to neglect the chores. 😉
- Study Stories of the Prophets with D. This year our Ramadan Project is to study the lives of the Prophets. I am not blogging about this officially and I may not be turning into a series this year because I saw last year how difficult it was to teach my kids and still find time to blog about it. I want to share our lessons with you all but it will have to be after we have finished them. God Willing, I will find time to share it with you all as best as I can.
- Plan our vacation. We cancelled our vacation at the last moment in May as it was stressful to pack in a hurry and leave. This time Z and I have decided to plan it together and with patience.
- Crochet, tat and sew. I am deliberately and purposefully trying to find time to work on my hobbies. I have been very stressed and anxious these past few months and need an outlet. You can follow my progress on Snapchat at @wordsnneedles 🙂
That is all. Simple goals aren’t they? I am trying to make them do-able.
