Baby Dreams
On Wednesday, I had an appointment with my Gynecologist. It was a routine second trimester visit and although I had been worried about the tests she would be taking, she didn’t take any. In fact she didn’t even mention anything about any test. My meds have been changed. I am taking Calcium and Iron supplements now and Alhamdulillah no more annoying multivitamins. The last time I met her, she had given me a multivitamin that was so irritating to my tastes and likes that I hardly took it a week. The tablet was big, it looked like it was made from recycled God-knows-what and it smelled like… like… something made from a mould! I can’t believe now I’ll have to teach them to make multivitamins! Multivitamins should be sweet smelling, preferably chewable and orange flavored; they should be pleasant to the eye and of a swallow able size. Now, is that so difficult to understand?!
Anyway, talking about the visit again, the baby is, Alhamdulillah, doing well and we got to hear the baby’s heart beat. What does it sound like? Well, at first when the doc started, I thought I was hearing a whale in my stomach. It took me a few second to understand that it was just my digestive system, the baby and it’s movement. The heart beat itself sounded more like a horse galloping. SubhanAllah, it is by far the most beautiful heartbeat I have ever heard and it means that Alhamdulillah, all is well.
I am now in my 15th week and it is a month before we see the doctor again. Hubby, I guess, was looking forward to an ultrasound. He hasn’t seen the baby yet and we were hoping that he’d get a peek this time. Unfortunate but hey, atleast he got to hear the bay’s heartbeat! He was as excited as I was … may be a little more. He asked me what my dreams were regarding the baby and I blurted out with, “Dreams? Honey, I am just excited that I’ll finally have someone to play with!!” Yes, someone to play with. I don’t know what I will teach my child but one thing is for sure, we’ll both be teaching each other a lot. I guess, he/she will help me in learning to be a mother and I’ll teach him what not. 🙂 Life’s a journey… and we learn at each step.

MashaAllah, Mabrook on the pregnancy! You’re in for such an amazing and exciting ride, and thanks for inviting me in to your blog. 🙂
