The Case Of The Forgotten Pills
I never cease to surprise myself with my forgetfulness. The latest is that I had lost my pills. I am Hypothyroid and need to take Thyroxine daily, failing which I can land myself in serious trouble (or atleast, that’s what my doctor says). I have survived, quite happily, without them for over a week now, by the way, and am considering leaving them for a while more to see if I’ll be alright.
So I lost the pills while packing for my trip to Jeddah and couldn’t find them anywhere. I had searched the house as thoroughly as I could in the 5 minutes that I had before we left and I had searched our bags. When we arrived in Jeddah, I did a more thorough check and finally satisfied that I had left them behind, worried silently as to how my vacation would go. I get moody, sick and depressed when I don’t take my medication and I was worried that I’d ruin everyone’s Eid. Thankfully, the syptoms didn’t surface and my holidays went quite well.
When we returned, I hadn’t still started my search when I went out to the balcony to check on the plants and what do I find there by the window? Yes… my Pills! I must have left them there when I was last there 9 days ago! So now, although the warning on the packing says to store below 25 degrees centigrade and keep out of sunlight, they seem OK to me. I am sure they just write that to make sure we don’t leave them outside in the sun. Mine were in the sun all day and under the sky all night and…. I am sure they are OK.
Wondering…. Should I start on them again or…. forget that I am Hypothyroid?
