Dhahban Marine Park – Exploring Jeddah With Kids
A few months ago, a new seaside park opened for the residents of Jeddah. Dhahban Marine Park is perfect for a weekend of fun and relaxation. It is a perfect place to take your kids and the best part is that it is free!
My husband had been telling me about it ever since it opened sometimes around Eid al adha. It is situated in Dhahban that is 50Km from Jeddah and it is a marine park. I am sure they have some plans to make it more ‘marine’ themed in the future but for now, it is a park. It has lots of greenery for you to have a barbecue party or you can enjoy as a bunch with lots of playground equipment for the kids to entertain themselves. There are tracks for kids to safely skate or ride too.
If you are looking for a short drive out of town and a relaxing day, then this place is it. It is totally free but the day we went, it was jam-packed so I couldn’t take much pictures without getting some kid or lady in view but hopefully, we’ll make a trip again.
The kids loved it. As you know, my children are really small. The elder is 8 years old and the tots are aged 3 and 2 years old but even then, I could let them run about and enjoy themselves. It is totally a family park with a beautiful view of the sea. There is also a football pitch and they have some nice graffiti art walls that my eldest found really cool.
The park is on 11000 square meters of greenery and as you can see from the map, it is quite large. As it is fairly new, there aren’t any restaurants or shops near by although you’ll find the ice cream vans and baleela and chips carts. You’ll have to take all your stuff, I’d say.
The verdict from my kids: Dhahban Marine park is a fun place.
The easiest way to get there is to catch the Jeddah-Madina Highway. Take the exit off at Dhahban and proceed west-wards. You’ll have to keep driving straight till the road heads right. Just keep on the right and you will see the sign coming up showing you which way to head. The road narrows to an entrance gate which is like a small bridge over a canal before it widens towards the parking. When we went it was all still dirt around clearly showing that there was more construction to happen. Here is the google map directions to the Dhahban Marine Park
It is a little tough finding parking but totally worth the walk. We went in at a really crowded time of the day.
