We studied L is for ‘leaving alone that which doesn’t concern you’ for the next letter in the A-Z of akhlaaq series.
One of the qualities of a believer is that he leaves alone that which does not concern him. How can you teach that to children?
I have thought about this so many times and finding the right activity to do or finding a 5minute lesson for them was difficult. I’ve been looking into books and although I recall something about the topic. For the life of me, I couldn’t recall!! (A year later I am still remembering!)
I told him about butterflies…. if they needed help coming out of the pupae. We imagined what would happen if we helped them. It was long discussion and he wsa really amused by the thought.
We also talked about the essential questions to ask yourself when interfering.
- Did anyone ask you for advice or help?
- Is it your matter?
- Does it benefit you?
- Is your advice required?
- Is your help really needed?
- Can you do any good?
I also gave them examples of when they should think about these questions.
- Not interfering when two persons are talking…
- Telly tallying about someone in front of an adult for no reason. I also explained that telly tallying is when you are telling an adult about someone without any reason or in order to get them into trouble. Are you trying to protect them? Were they doing something wrong?
- Eve dropping in conversation is bad manners.
