Tatting Misdventures
After a very long time, here is the tatting update. A new bookmark because I have a new notebook. Can we have enough bookmarks? Can anyone have enough bookmarks? No. I need a few more and they are in progress but… well… until I finish them and post them here consider them UFOs (Unfinished Objects)! I have quite a few of them lying around these days… (Shhh… don’t tell anyone, I have lost some too!)

The above is my progress on the Jan Stawasz Bouquet. Ughh… this is taking so long. You will never believe me but I only get around to doing a few stitches before I am disturbed again. Do you know what that has taught me about my kids?
Little boys are easier to parent than little girls. They don’t mind their mum’s tatting or crafting at all. I mean, I started tatting when my son was a few months old and he actually gave me enough time to learn to tat online. I did get some tatting done till my eldest was a few months old too but then I tat only when she was napping. Two daughters later, hardly any tatting. Three daughters later, no tatting! It is impossible to tat with them awake but when they are asleep… until I am doing something else, they will keep napping but the minute I reach for my shuttle, someone’s either pulling at the balls or at my shirt tail!
That, I am thinking because I have to complete my 25 motifs by September 2014 and I haven’t gone too far at all. A part of me tells me well… never mind because you atleast tatted this year inspite of all that you have had on your plate. The other ‘me’ says, ‘Hahahahaha!’
I know, the other ‘me’ isn’t very kind.
What can I say? I guess, the other me is the non-tatter. Non tatters don’t understand. Never mind.
Enjoyed reading your insights into the relationship between kids/gender & tatting :-))
Forewarned is forearmed …. so I hope your experience guides future tatters & wannabe parents ;-)))))
I like the way you've used a motif to create a bookmark. Must try it … I have a lot of motifs lying around…
