The Spring Flower Booties- Pattern

Spring Flowers Hat |
At first the hat was too big for our Lil’ One so, we wrapped it up and kept it ‘safely’; only to remove a month later and find that it was going to be small if we didn’t use it soon! Everytime I take Lil’ One out in it, people stop to smile and admire. 🙂 Ofcourse, they could be smiling at the Lil’ One too but then again, they are both cute. But, … the hat was only a hat… there had to be a matching something. Mommy, thought booties.

The base. This size fits newborn. I added one more row to make it 6-9months. |
This is the base of bootie and fits a newborn. I added one more row for 6-9months. You can increase each row by adding another row of dc but just remember you need to turn the corners/end and that can be achieved by alternating 2dc with dc at the last ch dc of previous row and there should be a 3dc in the middle dc. (I know, I am confusing! Just scroll up and see the stream of pictures to get an idea!)
For the shoe now, start with 2ch (This is the first sc. Ideally, it should be 1ch but I prefer 2ch because it becomes easier to spot and looks a little less taught). Make 1sc in each dc all around and then slip stitch into top of 2ch. Repeat this row 4times.
![]() |
1sc in each dc of previous row all around. Repeat this row 4 times. |
Start next row with 2ch and then sc each sc till you reach the corner or turning. This is when we start tightening the shoe. You achieve this by making 2sctog. (See picture below.) Insert needle in next stitch, pull out yarn onto needle, insert in next stitch, pull out yarn again onto needle, yo and pull through the three stitches.

2sctog (pic 2) |
Make the next stitch a single sc. Continue around the bend alternating between sc and 2sctog. sc in each sc to end and slip st in top of 2ch at the beginning.
For next row, begin as 2ch, followed by a sc in next 4 stitches and then dc in next four stitches. You will reach the corner of the toe. Start making 2dctog. (See pics below.) Yo, insert needle in next stitch, pull out yarn onto needle, yo again, insert in next stitch, pull out yarn again onto needle, yo and pull through 4 loops, yo again and pull through the remaining 2 loops on needle.

2dctog. (Pic 4. Yo again and pull yarn through the remaining two loops. ) |
Make the next st as a single dc. Alternate between 2dctog and dc till you complete the bend.![]() |
This is what 2dc alternating with 1dc look like. |

Continue with a dc in next 4 stitches and then sc all around to beginning. sl st in top of 2ch.

This is the bootie made. You can cut the yarn, hide the ends and leave it as it is or you can add a band and button on the side or add a flower as I did. |
Make the flower as shown below. (We are making a flower to ease the joining but on the shoe it will look like a diamond) 🙂
FLOWER:
Ch 6 and sl st in first ch.
ch2 for first sc, *(hdc, dc ch3 join with slip stitch to make picot, hdc, sc)*
Repeat * to * 5 times. sl st in top of beginning ch2. cut and hide ends.
Continue joining the flower as follows.
Make 2ch and sc in each of the next 4 stitches. Join the flower with an sc. (Insert needle into next st and then into a picot of the flower, yo and pull out thread on to needle. yo again and pull yarn through like an sc.) sc in next 4 stitches, join next picot, sc in next 4 stitches, join next picot (this will be the middle of shoe), sc in next 4 sts, join next picot, sc in next 4 sts and join the 5th picot of flower, sc to the turning around heel of shoe. tighten by doing 2sctog three times. sc to end, join with sl st to 2ch in beginning. Cut yarn, hide the ends.
Done. Now, do it all over again.. for the other bootie. 🙂
Please Note: This is my very own pattern. I really worked very hard on this so please, if you share this, link back and if you make it, tell me about it. I’d love to hear about it. Happy Crocheting.
Oh so cute ma sha Allah!!!
