Once upon a Blogger…
I started blogging in 2003. Sometimes in October… umm… 23rd I think, it was. It was a Rediff account and I had first heard of ‘blogging’ from the newspaper. Even then, from the beginning, I had wanted to make my own template. I remember, I had broken all my previous records at being so totally obsessed by staying awake for 72 hours straight. 🙂 The record is still unbroken.
What did I do for 72hours, you ask? Well…. I learnt HTML and CSS and ‘how to design a blog’ and then I made a template for myself… on Blogger. That account was hacked into a year later. I somehow, got back into it but deleted it all with out saving any of it. 🙁 There were some pretty crazy posts in it then. Blogging, then, was all about venting… I was a fresher in University and I had crazy seniors. Everyday was a misadventure and interesting enough people came to read about my crazy adventures. After the deleted blog came another one, annonymous, which didn’t stay annonymous for too long because those who read me were read by me and I got my readers back… Was it during that period when I had been co blogging with another blogger? Yes, I blogged with a partner too. It was fun and the blog was livelier… in fact, it had dimensions then. 🙂 That was the blogging as a Blogger then because by then, I was out of the ‘studying’ and the ‘teaching’ phase… and all there was to life was blogging and writing up. Then, … trouble started.
The problem with having a blog is that people who don’t know you in real life start making assumptions about you. It is as if your posts build a picture of you and your words give that picture a character. Some people don’t agree with you (and not just your words) and then there are those who not only agree with you, they idolise you … become your fans… start singing praises… and if they get that chance, they just show up your doorstep. That was when all the blogs were deleted and the blogger hibernated.
Blogging is an itch. Atleast, to me, it is. Once a blogger always a blogger! I taught myself to Crochet and then a few months later, Tat. And then Ais Got Crafty. But then she had kids… and became a mom … and then became a blogger all the way again. 🙂
What got me so nostalgic, you ask? I have been trying to tweak my template. And… I just hope, I don’t break my 72hr record.
